Product Details
Certainly one of the finest animal painters of the first half of the 20th century. A student at the Beaux-Arts in his hometown of Le Havre, then in Paris, Georges Frédéric RÖTIG was soon out in the forest, sketching its landscapes and lights. From Normandy to Fontainebleau, via Brittany, he studied animals up close to integrate them into rich compositions. Awarded the Prix Rosa-Bonheur in 1913, his naturalist paintings, sometimes with Impressionist overtones, are still highly sought-after today, particularly in wildlife art collections.
